Superior Second Grade Students Color for Safety

Thirty-five Superior second graders participated in the Superior FFA Chapter’s Rural Safety Coloring Contest. The students are taught by Mrs. Diane Kile and Mrs. Anne-Marie Giger. Each student submitted an entry from the Nebraska Soybean Board’s farm coloring book.
FFA members visited the second graders in their classroom on November 19 and discussed farm safety and prevention of accidents. Members coordinating the project were Vicki Simonsen, Montana Hayes, Sarah Wood, Tyler Strobl, Katrina Wulf, Matt Shafer, and Michelle Blecha. The entries are currently displayed in the Superior High School commons area.
According to Vicki Simonsen, chapter reporter, the safety project was to create youth awareness for an industry that has many hidden and attractive hazards.
The top three individuals from each class room earned $2 bills for their efforts. Each student will receive a prize for entering the safety promotion. Top entries were from Mrs. Kile’s room: 1. Emma Schnakenberg, 2. Dylan White, 3. Morgan Weber. From Mrs. Giger’s room: 1. Jackson Gilbert, 2. Noelle McMeen, 3. Trisha Hayes.
Other exceptional entries were submitted by Dylan Blackstone, Braden Frasier, Hunter Healey, Brenden Jensen, Autumn Oliver, McKenzie McDaniel, Isaac Meyer, Kalynn Meyer, Morgan Sunday, Joseph Thompson, Emily Tietjen, Keegan Wagner, Jake Weber, Jasmin Wengler, Ashton Berentes, Ashlya Brown, Kalya Crouch, Tanner Ekstein, Payton Frahn, Jae Freeman, Cassidy Frey, Zade Hansen, Andrew Hyde, Lacey Langer, Cody Mohler, Caden Roberts, Sonny Scheets, Jaden Simmons, and Christopher Studer. The Superior FFA will submit the top ten pictures for a coloring contest at the Nebraska FFA Convention in April. This competition is hosted by the Shickley FFA Chapter.
