Nebraska Corn stocks in all positions on December 1, 2009 totaled 1.33 billion bushels, up 12 percent from last year and the highest on record, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. Of the total stocks, 930 million bushels are stored on farms, up 19 percent from a year ago and another record high. Off-farm stocks, at 404 million bushels, are down 1 percent from 2008.
Soybeans stored in all positions on December 1, 2009 totaled 150 million bushels, down 15 percent from last year. On-farm stocks at 49 million bushels are down 28 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks of 101 million bushels are down 6 percent from 2008.
Wheat stored in all positions on December 1, 2009 totaled 60.1 million bushels, up 58 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 7.7 million bushels, are up 71 percent from 2008. Off-farm stocks, at 52.4 million bushels, are up 56 percent from last year.
Sorghum stored in all positions on December 1, 2009 totaled 13.8 million bushels, down 39 percent from 2008 and the lowest since 1956. On-farm stocks are 3.5 million bushels, down 30 percent from a year ago and the lowest since 1953. Off-farm stocks, at 10.3 million bushels, are down 42 percent from last year and the lowest since 1956.
Hay stocks on Nebraska farms totaled 4.5 million tons on December 1, 2009, up 9 percent from 2008.
