Feeder Cattle Auction
Receipts: 545 Last week 2125 Last year 1557
Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers and heifers 3.00-6.00 higher.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 lower. Supply light. Near 7 percent cows and 27
percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Feeder supply approximately 60
percent steers and bulls and 40 percent heifers. Strong feeder demand
despite the lower buyer turnout with the market getting substantial help
from Tuesdays limit up move on the feeder board. Light run due to sleet and
freezing drizzle throughout the area. Final auction of 2008.
Feeder steers: Medium and large 1 and 1-2 300-350 lbs few 110.00-117.00;
400-500 lbs 92.00-106.00; 500-600 lbs 89.00-100.50; 600-700 lbs 85.25-90.00,
small package 657 lbs 82.50; 700-750 lbs 83.75-87.00; small package 836 lbs
80.75. Medium 1-2 350-400 lbs 96.50-98.00; 440-550 lbs 84.50-90.50.
Feeder Heifers: Medium and large 1 and 1-2 400-500 lbs 82.00-88.50; 500-
600 lbs 79.00-89.00, small package fleshy 592 lbs 76.50; 600-700 lbs 77.00-
78.50. Medium and large 2 450-520 lbs 70.00-79.00. Large 1 650-700 lbs 72.50-
78.00. Medium 1-2 390-490 lbs 72.50-77.50.
